Homework Assignment Policies
1 Collaboration
You must work on homework assignments
entirely on your
own. You may only request help on homework assignments
from the course instructor or the lab assistant (if there is one).
You may request help on general topics from other students and
friends. However, when doing so you must never refer to the
homework assignment, either directly or indirectly.
2 Submission
You must submit "hardcopy" of your solutions on
8.5"x11.0" paper. Each submission must have a
typed coversheet that contains the assignment number,
your name, and your email address in the upper left
corner. (This makes it easier to sort/organize them.) Each
submission must be stapled. (This ensures that pages will not be
lost.)
3 Due Dates
Homework assignments must be submitted in class on the
day that they are due.
Homework assignments submitted after the due date will not
be accepted.
4 Grading
Homework grades will be based on effort, not on performance.
Students who make a concerted effort on the entire assignment will
be awarded a grade of 100, students who make a concerted effort
on a a signifcant majority of the assignment will be awarded a grade of
75, students who make a concerted effort on half of the assignment
will be awarded a grade of 50, and all other students will be awarded
a grade of 0. As a result, it is particularly important that you show
all of your work.
